How it Works
Once you get the hang of it, using these cloth diapers is fairly simple. The idea of the Cover + Insert is to reuse the cover as many times as you can before washing it.

Inserts/Prefolds:
you pick your desired insert, you can also use any insert or pre-fold you wish, you just have to fold it to fit your diaper cover.

Inserting the Inserts:
Place your insert into the cover. Pretty simple eh? Some brands, such as Flip and Assunta come with flaps to help secure the insert in place, other such as Econobum do not have the flaps, but I've found that it does really matter either way and is sometimes easier when you don't have to deal with the flaps.

Preparing for the day:
you can fill all your diapers and have them ready for the day or just fill them as you go. It really depends on how many diaper covers you decide you want/need. I usually keep my inserts in one basket and the filled ready-to-go diapers in another basket underneath my change table.

Wipes: When changing a baby that is exclusively breast-fed I use cloth wipes and a homemade bum solution in a spray bottle. When the baby starts on solids I find using cloth a bit nasty so I use disposable wipes for the dirty diapers and the cloth ones for the wet ones. Because it's kind of gross and stinky to toss soiled wipes in the garbage can I use an old formula container to store all the dirty wipes. I usually empty it in the garbage right before I'm ready to take out the trash.

I made the wipes from extra flannel that I had and just surged the edges. My wipes solution contains a couple drops of baby soap, a drop of baby oil and then water. I also use my wipes for wiping out my diaper pail.

Changing the diaper:
If you have your diapers ready to go, changing is a simple process. Simply dump the insert into your diaper pail and wipe out the inside of your cover. Then grab a new diaper and put it on your kid. I usually let my diapers air out for awhile after wiping them out, then when I have used them all I insert the covers all at the same time.
