Sometimes when using cloth, the dreaded yeast can grow and cause a nasty diaper rash on your baby's bum. The other week I noticed that my baby's rash was getting worse even with treatment of rash ointment. I figured maybe it was a yeast infection so I pulled out some over the counter miconazole. It took about a week of using disposables and miconazole for the rash to go completely away.
You don't want to use any kind of creams on your cloth diapers, so you'll either want to use liners or use disposables until the rash goes away.
I had to strip the yeast from my cloth diapers. I soaked them in bleach for an hour then washed in HOT water. Then I decided to do a ammonia strip while I was at it so I did a soak with Rockin' Green Funk Rock. Now my diapers are nice and yeast and ammonia free. Baby is back in cloth and doing great!
